creators welcome.

Hello friends,

Artistry is in everyone. It is such an essential feature of being that, given any opportunity, it must express itself in the world. You are receiving this note because you are an artist, identify as an artist, or have the spark of artistry within you.

Thank you for being artists with us. And now:

EDUCATION

We have NEWS: membership.

The most important question we ask every screen artist is the same: How do YOU maintain artistic integrity when you are ‘outside the gig’? The many answers we receive to this can be boiled down to three elements: purpose, consistency, and community. So we’ve been hard at work, for these past few pandemic-powered months, putting these elements together: creating, programming, and testing a new online community model for ALL screen artists.

It brings us joy beyond reason to announce aws membership, a virtual cocoon for screen artists to come together in a structured environment that fuels creativity and artistry daily. This endeavor is far more than a discount on classes, it is an entire network of industry professionals dedicated to maintaining consistent artistic integrity. Sustaining creative health ‘outside the gig’ feeds artistry ‘inside the gig’, exponentially.

Have you met the aws team? If you participated in this week’s Roundtable, you witnessed how special these incredible humans are…and if you missed it, don’t worry, you can join us on Monday, September 21 for the sequel ‘Maintaining Artistic Integrity within the Biz’. To learn more about the team now, check out our new arvoldwarnerstudio website!

As you will see, our aws education offerings are ready to rocket. Youth actors, we’ve created a whole new series of classes and intensives for you too. It’s time for actors to get your chops chopped, your moxie moxxed, and your savvy savved!

Our other human endeavor, meta, is rockin’. It’s rehearsal for life. Join us for a Tru Online Communication class, or schedule a one-on-one consult.

And…we continue to livestream. Join us for #FeedbackFriday (most Fridays) at our NEW time 5pm-6:30pm. It’s our favorite way to end the week with you!

CASTING

We can’t wait to tune in to the series premiere of The Good Lord Bird on Showtime October 4. In the meantime, here’s a fireside chat, and a longer really cool interview. What a tremendous experience it was to be a part of this endeavor.

We are impressed at the lengths productions are taking to provide safe work environments amidst Covid-19. We are fortunate to have casting work right now, and are honored to be a part of such diligent pursuits.

Our pandemic-friendly ‘2 Takes Challenge’ has been a challenge for us too! So many incredible submissions and we are nearly ready to announce the top contenders. Whew, we will update all on social media soon! Remember to follow @arvoldofficial on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Speaking of Instagram, if you want to watch two casting colleagues talk production protocol and banter about their passions, check out this IG live with Erica & Rhavynn Drummer.

PRODUCTION

Yep, the short film Here Today that Erica directed and we produced, is now available to view on Amazon. The crew and cast are overwhelmingly deserving of all accolades given and shared at over 25 festivals; we are so proud of this important message as it reaches a worldwide audience. Shout out to Astrabeta Creations, Point Nine Films, writer Meredith Grace Dabney, Denise Dabney, and all cast, crew, and community members who helped make this happen.

Keep your eyes peeled for Thursday, a short film written by Rachel Wender, starring Monique Grant and Keila J. Brown, and directed by Erica; it is currently making the festival rounds, too.

As we dream of being back on set, we bat around ideas, we write words, we create, and imagine what the future holds.

Hope to see you (virtually) soon, within the membership or elsewhere. Artists are resilient, and you are worthy exactly as you are.

Looking forward,

Erica + team
